Marble Table Maintenance
Perhaps one of the most important pieces of furniture in the house is the table. A house will probably not be useful at all if tables were absent. This is because tables serve a very distinct but varied number of purposes. These pieces of furniture are used to hold up food, lampshades, flower vases, and basically whatever decorations or functional items that is small enough to be placed on top of one. Tables are also used for entertainment or professional purposes; some tables are used by students to store notes and textbooks while using the desk itself for writing, while some tables have board games carved on their surfaces, making it specially made for playing. There are also a lot of material types from which tables are made, such as wood, plastic, metals, and marble tables. However, owners of marble tables should know how to properly take care of their property for these pieces of furniture to last for at least one lifetime.
Protective Coating
Since marble tables are made from stone, they can generally withstand weathering effects more than the usual wooden table, but that does not mean they are absolutely invincible to damage. In line with this, one of the first protective measures any table owner must take before using their table is to place a protective coating over its surface. This will help prevent dirt and dust to seep through the table surface, making it appear clearer and cleaner regardless of how long it’s been there. As a plus, in the event of any liquid spillage, stains cannot permanently stay on the table. The protective coating usually loses its strength each year though, so it might be a good idea to have its surface coated on a regular basis annually.
Choose the Location Beforehand
Marble tables are very heavy; this makes them resistant to movement, which can either be a good thing or a bad thing. Being heavy is a good thing because it would not be easily budged when being bumped by accident, protecting the items placed on top of it. But the disadvantage to this trait is that moving the table will be virtually impossible by yourself. So in order to prevent your need to possess Herculean strength to move your table, determine where you want your table placed before the movers place it inside your house. Usually this can be done when you first purchase the marble table; just tell the delivery crew where you want it placed, and you will be saved from literally hundreds of pounds.
