How To Clean A Marble Coffee Table
A marble coffee table is something really nice to have in your living room, bedroom, or even in the garden. It just adds to the personality of your house and it even adds value to your home as whole. That being said, you will need to take care of your marble coffee table if you want to keep that value up. Cracks and other types of damage may bring the value of the table down and so selling it in the future can be quite difficult.
Now, marble is a beautiful material and a marble coffee table can stain quite easily if you do not know how to clean it properly. Here are some tips that can keep your marble coffee table in top condition.
- Using a soft cloth and warm water, you can wipe down the marble coffee table. You need to also have a dry towel or cloth to suck up all the water that might remain. Doing this on a regular basis will keep your marble table new and shiny just like the day that you bought it.
- Your marble coffee table will also need to be cleaned and polished thoroughly at least 4 times in a year. This means that you need to use more than just water to clean it. A mild soap will suffice but you can also purchase a special marble cleaner online or at your favorite furniture shop. These cleaning agents have to be mild or else you will lose the shine on your marble table. You don't want to have a dull looking marble table. To prevent it from becoming dull, make sure that you use a ph neutral soap, warm water, clear ammonia, baking soda and rubbing alcohol, or baking soda and acetone. These are some of the milder cleaning agents that you can use to prevent damage and the dulling of your marble coffee table.
- If you already have stains on your marble coffee table, you can use a facial tissue dipped in water mixed with a little hydrogen peroxide. Make sure that you don't use pure hydrogen peroxide or it will damage the table. Put this mixture on the stain for a few hours and then wipe it down. You can do this as many times as you need to in order to get rid of the stain.
- Get yourself a chamois after you clean the marble coffee table and then you can spray a polish on it. This will help you to improve the shine of the marble table. There are some polishing products that you can look into on the Internet. Just search for stone polish or marble polish.
- Make sure that you get rid of the following spills: wine, coffee, fruit juices, citrus juices, tomato sauce. If you leave these spills unattended, they can stain your marble coffee table and quite possibly damage it. Make sure to wipe off these spills with a warm damp cloth as soon as you can.
